Dragon, oh Dragon

So I'm still diligently working on my dragon character. I'm pretty much just focusing on him right now since I'm ahead on my environment assignment and my character model is due soon. I just roughly mirrored geometry without attaching to original mesh. All I have left to do on the model is finish off the feet and then I can see if I need any more detailing in muscles or anything. Just posting a single image now. The wings and feet I didn't attach to the body yet.

Dragon Character Update

Well... I started it I suppose. There is still a whole lot I have to do. I'm waiting to see what the modelling teacher does for dragon wings. Also haven't done the foot or the inside of the mouth quite yet. It's pretty low poly at this point. Just over a 1000 polys for one half of the dragon right now.

I have some screen shots, though I didn't mirror the geomatry over for two of them. Guess it gives an insight how I work.

Above is just with wire frame on the poly (Just half of the dragon)

Here's without the lines showing. Obviously, I didn't bother smoothing the normals for this.

And I screen cap'd a picture of it mirrored.
He's not as scary or evil as I hoped he would be, but I'm praying that once I put in the mouth with all the teeth and all the fun textures he'll look very evil looking. And, of course, if I can use more polys after the wings and foot, there will be more spiky details.

Character Designs

I think I may have mentioned that I am also working on a character for this final semester along side my environment. I am going to put some pictures up of the head, and then the body (though, unfortunately, I haven't done a good 3/4 view for the body).

At a later time I will throw up a good concept piece (and I dearly hope I can do a good one!).

Here's the body (Had to do the wing separately or it would have been big).

And below is just the head.

Really need to work on proper saving practices... I forgot to save all my work onto my USB last week before the weekend. So, when people came in to paint our class room wall, they shut off all the computers and cause them to get rid of all the desktop files.

Luckily, that 20 some odd hours of work I did, I was able to do the majority within 7 hours.

Anyway, I still need to clean up some skteches, but I can put up some random screenshots of what I'm doing in Maya for my Environment.

Here's the wireframe

Here's just the Lambart

Once I work up basic textures, I'll throw that up as well before I go into detail work.
Anyway, that's it for now.

First entery of a Game Art and Design student.

Hey, guys

I'm trying to set up a bunch of things at the moment. You see, I'm in school right now for Game Design and Development and I'm rounding the final semester. Once that is done I have to go out and get a placement (meaning who ever hires me can get free student labour for the amount of hours I have to work in order to graduate).

So, my class has been told to set up a blog. The teach mentioned a different site, but for now I will use blogger since its connected with my email.

Some point soon I will throw up some concept sketches of a character I'm working on as well as some environment sketches for the environment I am also working on.

Actually, I'm making the semester hard core for myself. Concept art, character and environment completely modelled, textured, normaled, character rigs and posed...
Needless to say, I may die before the end, but at least its from something I love doing.

I hope to also revamp the template later once I figure out a theme for everything to follow. I'll have to try and remember CSS again.

Later!
